EAGLE Layout Editor Notes
EAGLE TM Layout Editor is CAD software for electronic schematic capture and printed circuit layout provided by CadSoft Computer GmbH. The best way to learn about the EAGLE layout editor is, of course, to visit the CadSoft website www.cadsoft.de.
I have used EAGLE for many years now to design and layout circuits. In my opinion it is far and away one of the best values in schematic capture and layout software for individual and small business use.
My purpose here is neither to simply advocate for EAGLE nor to reiterate what is already clearly explained in the product manuals. Rather it is to catalog some of my experiences and practices in using the product which others may perhaps find helpful.
Now anytime you are in a position to say... "This is helpful but it is not in the manual" you are at odds with the manual writer. And moreover if you say "this is something one wants to do but the software doesn't support it", you are at odds with the software writer. It is reasonable for the manual writer to disagree, feeling perhaps that the point was clearly made but you just didn't get it, and likewise with the software writer who may feel that you don't appreciate that the software design is sufficient and satisfactory. So it is helpful to remind the reader that these are only my opinions on what is helpful knowledge or useful tips. I have high regard for EAGLE as a fine tool for developing real world circuits; if I didn't think so then I wouldn't be using it.
